New Delhi: An Indian Air Force (IAF) Globemaster aircraft brought Indian citizens stranded in Iran to Ghaziabad on Tuesday morning. The IAF C-17 Globemaster with the first batch of 58 Indian pilgrims who were stuck in Iran landed from Tehran at Hindon air force station in Ghaziabad. All the passengers would first be taken to a base camp where they will be screened and tested for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

If the Indian citizens brought back from Iran are clear of any symptoms, they will be discharged, but those among them who test positive for COVID-19, will be sent to a hospital for further treatment.

New cases of COVID-19 have been reported from Pune, Bengaluru and Amritsar. The disease caused by the virus, Covid-19, has claimed nearly 4,000 people across the world, mostly the aged and the very young.

Meanwhile the total number of positive cases in the country has touched 46 with a couple from Pune and a man returning from Dubai to Punjab testing positive for COVID 19.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has now announced that the threat of COVID-19 turning into a pandemic was very real.

As a preventive step in the wake of COVID-19, the North-eastern state of Manipur has sealed its border with Myanmar.
