COVID-19: Three Year-Old Child In Kerala Tests Positive
Mumbai: The countrywide count of positive cases in the COVID-19 health crisis mounted to 37 with a fresh case being reported from Kerala on Sunday night. A three-year-old child tested positive for in Kerala. She returned with her parents from Italy and was screened at the Kochi international airport. Her blood samples sent to the national Institute of virology (NIV) at Pune, turned out to be positive.
The Kerala government is contacting the other passengers on the flight, as also those that the child's parents would have come in contact with.
Earlier, five more cases were reported on Sunday from Kerala. All the five cases in question related to 3 persons who returned from Italy on Saturday. They did not report the travel history and infected two other family members. Authorities are now trying to contact others they would have been in touch with.
Three other cases which were first reported from Kerala and were also the first in the country, were students who came from Wuhan University. they were screened and subsequently quarantined. After the mandatory quarantine period they were tested and discharged.
Call for postponing IPL
Maharashtra Health Minister, Rajesh Tope told media persons on Saturday that the IPL should be postponed in view of the COVID-19 scare. He said that since there is a chance of the virus spreading particularly in large gatherings which should be avoided, postponement of IPL should be seriously considered.
The opening match of the IPL is scheduled to be held at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 29 between Chennai super Kings and hosts Mumbai Indians.
BCCI president, Sourav Ganguly observed that the IPL schedule is likely to remain intact.
