COVID-19 Update: Death Count In India Crosses 6K Mark
The coronavirus pandemic tally in the country climbed close to 2,17,000 as per the Thursday morning update put out by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The countrywide figure now stands at 2,16,919.
Across the states, 1,04,107 people have been cured or discharged, while there are 1,06,737 active cases. There have been over 6000 deaths from the deadly pandemic in the country so far. The death count has reached 6,075.
Here is a break-up of the ten states with the highest numbers of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country.
Maharashtra which is recovering from the impact of heavy rain caused by Cyclone Nisarga, has been recording the highest number of cases for some time now. The state's COVID-19 tally continues to go up climbing to 74,860 with 2,587 deaths.
Tamil Nadu has also been reporting high number of COVID-19 cases. It has so far recorded 25,872 confirmed coronavirus cases with 208 deaths.
Delhi has seen a sudden spike in the number of confirmed coronavirus cases with the total count in the national capital now standing at 23,645. Delhi has recorded 606 deaths so far.
The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Gujarat now stands at 18,100 with the death count climbing to 1,122 .
Rajasthan's tally is close to 10,000 reaching 9,652 cases of confirmed coronavirus patients with 209 deaths.
Madhya Pradesh has reported 8,588 confirmed COVID-19 cases with a mortality rate of 371 deaths.
Uttar Pradesh has recorded 8,729 confirmed coronavirus cases with 229 deaths.
West Bengal has so far reported 6,508 cases of coronavirus with 345 deaths. Bihar has so far recorded 4,390 cases with 25 deaths, while Karnataka has reported 4,063 cases of COVID-19 with 53 deaths .
