Cyclone Nisarga: Dos And Don'ts
Cyclonic storm Nisarga made a landfall near Alibaug in Maharashtra following which several parts of the state received moderate to heavy rainfall causing devastating effectsin the regions. The BMC and NDRF teams which were on alert in Mumbai evacuated scores of people living close to the beaches to safer areas. The IMD has put Maharashtra and Gujarat on high alert in view of cyclonic storm Nisarga. The IMD has also sounded a flood alert in low lying areas of Ratnagiri, Mumbai, Thane and Raigad. Here are some Dos and Don'ts to keep in mind if you are in one of the regions being hit by cyclone Nisarga.
In the event of a cyclonic storm
Dos
Do not step out in the wain
Move to safer place if you live in low-lying regions
Stick to boiled water
Close the doors and windows of your house
Keep the electrical mains switched off and use only when necessary
Keep the cylinder in switch off position when not in use
stay away from electrical poles and open wires
Keep an eye on the weather forecast
Drive only if you must
Don'ts
Follow news on credible news channels only
Stay away from old/damaged buildings
Do not leave your house unless you are asked to evacuate
Stay away from water bodies and keep especially kids away from pools or beacjes
Stay indoors as much as possible
