Dedicated Freight Corridors from Vijayawada

New Delhi: Ministry of railways approved preparing Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Dedicated Freight Corridors (DFC) on the East Coast Corridor – Kharagpur - Vijayawada (length of 1,115 km) and in the North South Sub Corridor - Vijayawada-Nagpur-Itarsi (975 km), said minister of railways Piyush Goyal in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

The DPR will include the alignment of corridor, traffic catchment area, techno-economical studies, projected traffic, financial and economic rate of return etc.

The work of preparation of DPR has been entrusted to Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) and the same is in progress.

A decision with regard to taking up the new DFCs and mode of implementation, if any, may be taken on the basis of the final outcome of DPR.
