Delhi Elections 2020: Nitish Kumar To Campaign Today
New Delhi: Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal (United) (JDU) supremo, Nitish Kumar is scheduled to address election meetings in the national capital on Saturday. The JD-U chief will be campaigning for the two party candidates in Delhi, Shailender Kumar from Burari and SCL Gupta from Sangam Vihar constituencies.
Both Burari and Sangam Vihar constituencies are known for their concentration of Purvanchal voters. The Purvanchal voters, over whom Nitish holds sway, add up to a critical swing element in more than 20 assembly constituencies in Delhi.
BJP's Manoj Tiwari and Kirti Azad of the Congress have been out wooing the Purvanchali voters. Now, Tejashwi Yadav of RJD and the JD-U chief have also hit the campaign trail, as has UP chief minister, Yogi Adityanath.
AAP has its prominent face from Purvanchal, Rajya Sabha member, Sanjay Singh, who along with other party leaders including Sanjeev Jha, Sanjay Bhagat and Dileep Pandey, have been ahead of the other parties in their mass contact initiatives. AAP has been in touch with the Purvanchal voters and others for months now. Party leaders were off the blocks ahead of all others and went about explaining the development initiatives undertaken by the Arvind Kejriwal government.
It remains to be seen as to what impact Nitish Kumar, Tejashwi Yadav and Yogi Adityanath would have on the final outcome. One thing becomes clear—the Purvanchal voter base in Delhi holds the key to victory in the elections to be held on Saturday.
