Delhi Elections 2020: Yogi Adityanath, Tejashwi Yadav Hit Campaign Trail
New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath on Saturday, began campaigning for the BJP in the final week for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections. The UP CM hit out at those staging and supporting Shaheen Bagh protests against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
Yogi Adityanath, addressing a large election rally in Rohini area of northwest Delhi, accused the protesters who were raising slogans of 'Azadi' of backing terrorists in Kashmir. The UP CM lashed out at Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for "supplying biryani" to the Shaheen Bagh protesters.
Addressing another election rally in east Delhi in the Karawal Nagar Chowk area, Yogi Adityanath slammed the anti-CAA protesters. The BJP leader remarked that the ancestors of the protesters had divided India and that they bore a grudge against the growing might of India as a great power.
The BJP stalwart alleged that the protesters wanted to stall India's story of growth and development under the BJP.
BJP leaders have all along been keeping the focus of the election campaign in Delhi on anti-CAA protests, notably Shaheen Bagh.
The Congress and Lalu Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) have come together to fight elections in Delhi for the first time. The RJD will be contesting the Palam, Burari, Kirari and Uttam Nagar seats, while the Congress has put up candidates from the other 66 constituencies.
RJD's Tejashwi Yadav is scheduled to campaign in the national capital for two days. He will campaign for the Congress and his party and will hold four roadshows in Delhi.
