New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Thursday sought a response from the Central Government to a PIL filed to recognize gay marriage under the Hindu Marriage Act and the Special Marriage Act.
A bench of justices Rajiv Andlaw and Asha Menon issued notice to the central government and gave four weeks for filing the reply.
Petitioner Abhijeet Iyer Mitra has claimed in the petition that marriage between same-sex couples is not possible despite the Supreme Court agreeing that homosexual acts are not a crime.
