Donald Trump: India-US, Allies In Fighting Terror

Ahmedabad: US President Donald Trump asserted that both the United States and India are fighting terrorism together. He also referred to increasing cooperation in this area between the two countries.

President Trump pointed out that radical Islam was a growing threat. While the US opened its doors to immigrants, it slammed them shut to those who wished to harm the US, he added. President Trump expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a man who works night and Day and a true friend, he added.

Donald Trump referred to the fact that he and the First Lady travelled 8000 miles to convey the message that America loves India and will stand by it. India is an inspiration to the world with its message of unity in diversity.

President Trump recalled that five months ago PM Modi was welcomed at a football stadium in Houston and today the this was reciprocated at this blockbuster 'Namaste Trump' event at the largest cricket stadium in the world. He thanked the 125,000 people present in the stadium and those who lined the streets to showcase India's cultural diversity. President Trump remarked that he and his family members would remember this experience all their lives. President Trump referred to Prime Minister Modi's background as a tea seller and said that PM Modi symbolises enterprise and success based on hard work. President Trump's speech was peppered with references to Bollywood, DDLJ, cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli and India's unity in diversity.

Trump pointed to trade negotiations between the countries and referred to PM Modi as a very tough person. He also remarked that some key defence deals were likely to be signed on Tuesday in Delhi.

Donald Trump also hailed PM Modi for his landslide victory in the 2019 elections. He also referred to the growth in the Indian economy and how millions of poor Indians have been uplifted from their impoverished state under PM Modi's leadership. President Trump also commended PM Modi's achievements in basic sanitation and cooking fuel.

President Trump remarked that India will be home to the largest middle class in the world and spoke of the country's tremendous potential to grow as an economic giant. India's growth is all the more important because its achievements are based on democracy. President Trump observed that this accounts for the natural bonds between India and the United States.
