The process of getting the voter ID card to the voters has been a tough task for the commission. In such a situation, the Commission has increasingly concentrated on digital options. It can also be stored with other documents in DigiLocker, a government-protected digital document.
According to the information received from the sources of the Commission, it will be possible to download the EPIC and secure it in DigiLocker immediately after verification of the voter to create a Voter I Card. This will free the voter from the long wait for the card and the long process after verification. At present, the Commission will keep this facility voluntary, that is, if the voter wishes, he can also get the voter ID card.
To get a digital card, the voter will have to register by registering his mobile or email with the help of Voter Helpline app, from where the card can be downloaded after verification with the help of password. For security, a maximum of six cards can be downloaded to a mobile number. Not only this, it can be verified by the Commission and can be downloaded only on the registered number. There are plans to keep it free of any kind.
