Galwan martyrs laid to rest

Puri: In Odisha, which lost two of its men, the last rites two bodies of the soldiers killed in the violent clash with Chinese troops in Ladakh earlier this week were performed with full military honours.

The body of Naib Subedar Nanduram Soren (43) was consigned to flames as per Santhali customs at Champauda village in Mayurbhanj district. The mortal remains of Sepoy Chandrakanta Pradhan (28) were laid to rest at Bearipanga village in Kandhamal district as per Christian rituals.

Each of the 20 soldiers were given a funeral with full military honours even as scores of people thronged to pay tributes to the fallen soldiers, who were also accorded a guard of honour.

Thousands raised slogans of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" as they joined the men's cortege to at the cremation grounds.
