BENGALURU: To contest in the upcoming elections of the Lok-Sabha from the Tumkur constituency, the former Prime Minister and JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda have finally zeroed.

After Gowda had ceded Hassan, which he represents in the Lok Sabha, to grandson Prajwal Revanna. It was a matter of massive speculation for the constituency Gowda would be opting for. Gowda had to choose from Bengaluru North and Mysore-Kodagu seats apart from Tumkur.

A senior JD(S) leader had said that, "Gowda has decided to contest from Tumkur and asked his son and PWD minister HD Revanna to fix a date and time to file nomination papers."

As per reports, Gowda took the decision of opting for Tumkur only after he had received a firm assurance from the Congress leaders, especially CLP leader Siddaramaiah that they would make sure of his victory.

On Wednesday the Congress leaders increased their efforts to end their disagreement in its rank and register in the district of Hassan. As the party high command handing over the seat to the JD(S)had made several leaders and party workers are reportedly upset. Former minister A Manju had even quit and joined the BJP.

CLP leader Siddaramaiah and the working president of KPCC Eshwar Khandre held a meeting to convince the workers to show support for JD(S) in the "ideological battle" against BJP. "We will again hold another meeting on Thursday,'' Khandre said.
