Gunman Who Pointed Pistol At Cop During Delhi Riots Arrested In Bareilly
New Delhi: Delhi Police reportedly arrested gunman, Shahrukh who was seen in a number of videos pointing a gun at a constable during the violence in North East Delhi. Crime branch police arrested Shahrukh in Bareilly of UP, media reports said.
Shahrukh is also seen in several videos firing several rounds at a crowd in Maujpur. The shooter is said to be associated with a criminal gang in the area. His father is reported to be an alleged drug peddler with connections to the notorious gang.
Shahrukh is said to be a resident of Brahmpuri in Delhi and his familiarity with the lanes and by lanes of the area in North East Delhi help them to escape easily.
The image of Shahrukh threatening an unarmed Delhi head constable by pointing a gun to him went viral. It is also the most telling evidence against him.
Police believe that the arsonists had stockpiled weapons ahead of the violent incident and are carrying out further investigation. Many of the dead sustained gunshot injuries. Similarly, a number of the injured have also been admitted with bullet injuries, media reports said.
Crime branch authorities have stated that they would hold a press briefing at 3:30 pm on Tuesday.
The national capital was rocked by multiple violent incidents from Sunday, 23 February to late night of Tuesday. 46 people lost their lives in the riots, while more than 300 people were injured.
