IAS officer Mohammed Mohsin suspended by Election Commission speaks up
New Delhi : Mohammed Mohsin, an officer from Karnataka, was suspended last week by the Election Commission for checking the PM's helicopter. He challenged the order before the Central Administrative Tribunal, which put the action on hold on Thursday.
The Election Commission cancelled his suspension as of now, but has recommended disciplinary action against him.
Speaking about the incident, the officer said,
"I was doing my duty. On the spur of the moment they have suspended me. I have not received a single report that can tell me what I have done. I am fighting for myself in the dark," he stated.
An Election Commission order said the officer was accused of "not acting in conformity" with instructions on Special Protection Group (SPG) protectees.
However, there is no rule that exempts anyone from such checks during polls. Opposition parties including The Indian National Congress condemned the move.
