Imam Bukhari's secretary dies from Corona, Jama Masjid may be closed again
New Delhi: Shahi Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari of Jama Masjid said on Wednesday that the mosque could be closed again in view of deteriorating conditions in Delhi due to the Covid-19 global epidemic. The move has been taken when Shahi Imam's secretary Amanullah died in Safdarjung Hospital on Tuesday night due to Coronavirus.
Ahmed Bukhari said Amanullah was found infected and was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital on June 3, where he breathed his last on Tuesday. The Shahi Imam said that public opinion has been sought on the closure of the historic mosque again in the wake of rising coronavirus cases in the capital Delhi.
He said that people are giving their opinion on the closure of Jama Masjid through social media and other mediums. We can close it again for people in a day or two and limit the number of people who offer Namaz.
Bukhari said that I have also asked other small mosques to appeal to people to stay in homes and to offer 'namaz' at home instead of mosques. It is not correct to go to mosques at a time when the Coronavirus cases are at a peak in Delhi, whereas we did not do so during Ramadan and also on Eid due to the lockdown.
