IMD warns Karnataka and Maharashtra to be prepared for heavy rains

Karnataka: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned that there will be heavy rainfall over the Konkan coast. Taking note on the wind conditions over the Konkan coast, IMD issued a warning over the Karnataka region till July 5.

According to the statistics shown on the IMD website, Karnataka and some parts of Maharastra will be experiencing rainfall in the next three days. It is also informed that very heavy rainfalls which are usually greater than 20 cm will also be seen in Konkan coast and Goa, especially on July 3.

Apart from Konkan Coast, IMD is also expecting rainfall across some regions of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, and East Uttar Pradesh. The intensity of the rainfall is likely to increase over the next two days.

This will be mainly caused due to high convergence of strong moist westerly/southwesterly winds, that too at lower tropospheric levels from the Arabian sea.
