Inhumane act led to death

Aligarh: An inhumane act by the Hospital staff in Aligarh dragged a poor patient to death. A patient who had visited the hospital to get treated for his urine problem left the hospital as he was not in a position to pay the bill amount of Rs 4000. Later, he was brutally attacked by hospital staff with sticks which led to his death.

Chaman, who was the relative of the victim described the incident after the CCTV footage of the incident gone viral online. He said, "when the family members arrived at the hospital and enquired about the cost, authorities told that they will let them know and informed about the requirement of ultra-sound scanning. Before the process started, he was charged Rs 5000. Then he appealed that the amount was paid. Later, the hospital staff brought into notice that the other Rs 4000 to Rs 5000 will be charged as bed cost."

"As we are unable to pay, we asked for discharge the patient and left the hospital. The hospital staff followed us and demanded to pay Rs 4000. As we refused, the staff got few more members and beaten brutally," he added.

The Hospital management in Aligarh refuted the statement and made a counter allegation that patient's family had attacked the staff. The CCTV footage exhibits the truth of one of the staff member rushing back to the hospital and the other staff attacking with sticks.

Speaking on the incident, Quarsi Police Station inspector Chote Lal said, "The body of the deceased was sent to postmortem. No FIR was registered till now."
