J & K: Security Forces Arrest Local Hizb Terrorist

Baramulla: Security forces including Jammu and Kashmir police, CRPF personnel and troops from the Indian Army arrested a local terrorist, Junaid Farooq Pandit of the notorious Hizbul Mujahideen outfit. The DIG of Baramulla range, M. Suleman revealed that one Chinese pistol, 13 live rounds and two magazines had been recovered from the local terrorist.

The senior police official added that the militant is currently being interrogated by security forces. Junaid Farooq Pandit had been associated with the Hizbul Mujahideen and the security forces laid an elaborate trap for him in Tapper Pattan of Baramulla district.

Security forces killed 2 Lashar-e-Tayyaba (LeT) terrorists on Friday night in a joint operation in Sangam Bijhebehara in South Kashmir. The two slain terrorists, Naveed Ahmed Bhat is also known as Furkan, and Aaqib Yasin Bhat, had a history of many terrorist activities.

Director general of police of Jammu and Kashmir, Dilbag Singh told media persons that 12 successful operations had been carried out in 2020. 25 terrorists had been killed during the course of these successful operations, he revealed.J &K DGP also stated that nine terrorist operatives in Kashmir and 3-4 terrorist operatives in the Jammu area had been arrested, apart from more than 40 over-ground workers.

The Centre had also revealed recently that there had been a sharp downturn in terrorist activities over the past few months.
