Jammu & Kashmir: Security Forces Eliminate 4 Terrorists

Srinagar: In a well-coordinated operation, four terrorists were eliminated in Shopian district of the Valley in the early hours of Friday. The news agency ANI reported that the operation continues to be in progress.

Over the past three weeks, more than 20 terrorists have been eliminated by security forces in well-orchestrated operations in South Kashmir. Most of the terrorist activity in the valley has centred around Shopian in South Kashmir.

Security forces have successfully thwarted a number of attempts made by Pakistan to push terrorists across the Line of Control (LoC) into the Valley. Pakistan upped the ante after the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019 and in a systematic attempt has tried to create tension in the Valley through terrorist attacks. However, all its attempts have been successfully foiled by alert security forces.

Among the terrorists who have been eliminated in recent weeks include two top Hizbul commanders and an explosives expert and a nephew of the founder of the terrorist organisation, Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Masood Azhar.

These successful operations of eliminating well-trained, highly motivated terrorists has come as a major morale booster for the security forces. The operations have also created a sense of confidence among the common citizens of the valley about a quick return to normalcy after the scrapping of Article 370 and the subsequent bifurcation of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories.
