Jyotiraditya Scindia joined the BJP on Wednesday in presence of the ruling party's president JP Nadda.

New Delhi: Former Union Minister and four-term Congress MP from Guna in Madhya Pradesh, joined the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) formally on Wednesday afternoon. Scindia was welcomed into the ruling party at the Centre by BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda.

JP Nadda welcomed Jyotiraditya Scindia with a bouquet and the BJP's scarf. Addressing the media, the BJP President said that he was reminded of Jyotiraditya Scindia's grandmother who was one of the founding members of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and later, the BJP.

Responding to JP Nadda's welcome remarks Jyotiraditya Scindia thanked the BJP president, Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He said that 30 September 2001 was a life-changing day in his life. The other important day in his life was his father's 75th birth anniversary, March 10, 2020, when he set out on a new path.

Scindia said that politics should be an instrument to achieve the larger goal. Scindia recalled that his father set an example for him which he followed in his political career of 18 years, Scindia said.

Jyotiraditya Scindia once again said that he could not serve the nation through the Congress. The reason for this is the inability of the Congress to face reality, he added. The Congress government in MP is riddled with corruption, Scindia remarked. Kamal Nath government of Madhya Pradesh failed to fulfil any of its election promises, Jyotiraditya Scindia said.

Jyotiraditya Scindia accused sand mining mafias and corruption coteries of ruling the roost in his home state. Under Kamal Nath, transfer had become an industry. Scindia hailed PM Modi and told the media that the country was safe under the leadership of a statesman like the Prime Minister.
