Jyotiraditya Scindia Set To Join BJP Today
New Delhi: Former Union Minister and four-term Lok Sabha MP Jyotiraditya Scindia is all set to join the BJP at around noon on Wednesday. The former Congress heavyweight from Madhya Pradesh, known to be a confidant of Rahul Gandhi, decided to part ways with the grand old party on Tuesday.
Jyotiraditya Scindia met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the national capital on Tuesday. He also had a meeting with BJP president Jagat Prakash Nadda. The senior Madhya Pradesh leader was expected to join the BJP on Tuesday evening, but the event has been postponed by a day.
Jyotiraditya Scindia had posted his letter of resignation from the Congress, addressed to working president, Sonia Gandhi on the popular microblogging site, Twitter. The Congress reacted by claiming that Scindia had been expelled from the Congress for anti-party activities.
Jyotiraditya Scindia has been offered a Rajya Sabha seat and a berth in the Central cabinet, according to media reports. analysts have pointed out that this will add heft to his political stature, as things stand. The four-term Congress MP from Guna lost to Krishna Pal Yadav of the BJP in 2019.
22 MLAs loyal to Jyotiraditya Scindia have already sent in their resignations to Madhya Pradesh Governor, Lalji Tandon and 19 of them are holed up in a resort in Bengaluru. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath has claimed that there is nothing to worry about and that his government would complete its term. He has written a letter to the Governor asking him to expel six ministers from his cabinet.
