Coronavirus in Mumbai: Former Lok Sabha MP and BJP leader Kirit Somaiya has accused hospital authorities in Mumbai of criminal negligence in the case of a COVID-19 patient who went missing and was found dead on railway tracks. Earlier on Thursday morning, the BJP leader from Maharashtra tweeted to cite the instance of 80 year-old Vithal Mulye who was admitted at Shatabdi Hospital Kandivali.

Somaiya added that Mulye was kept at in a COVID ward along with dead bodies of Coronavirus patients. The BJP leader, in his tweet said that Mulye was found dead on railway tracks. Kirit Somaiya added that they would be filing a complaint at Kurar (Malad) Police Station in the case.

The BJP leader also flagged the case of another patient who died on June 2 and her family was not informed. In another tweet Somaiya referred to

Gyantidevi Vishwakarma who died at BKC/Sion Hospital due to what the former MP alleged as criminal negligence/evacuation by MMRDA Hospital, Sion Hospital and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). He further said in his tweet that they had filed a criminal conspiracy complaint along with her grandson.

Kirit Somaiya also gave a third such example of negligence by hospital authorities in Maharashtra. In a tweet, he pointed out how an 82 year-old Jalgaon patient, Malati Mehte, who was stated to be "missing" was found dead in the hospital's toilet.

A Public Interest Litigation suit (PIL) has now been filed in this case in the Mumbai High Court.
