KTR asks Centre to focus on good governance

New Delhi: Cautioning the Centre against the growing disenchantment with the BJP's failures, Telangana Industries and IT Minister KT Rama Rao advised the Central government to recast its governance priorities rather than focusing on controversial legislations.

Speaking at a conclave here on Thursday, KTR said the two so-called national parties should realise the fact that they disappointed the people with their failures in providing good governance and extending real 'vikas'.

Development of basic infrastructure, welfare and jobs were some of the key factors for the well-being of the nation that the ruling party should focus upon, he added.

Pointing out that Hyderabad had been recognised as a global city topping the quality lists of several surveys, he added that, however, he was not sure whether Hyderabadis would agree to make it the second capital of the country.

The Centre should focus on the cooperative federalism and 'Team India' spirit which were often made the talking points of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He sought a more liberal attitude in ushering in economic reforms and FRBM limits so that these turn into growth engines of the country.

Referring to Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha taken up by the Telangana government, he said the Centre was refusing to release funds for the same which is strange.

Reiterating that neither the Congress nor the BJP were enemies of the TRS but only rivals, he said it was the duty of the Centre to cooperate with the State in its development. The States should have a greater say in planning and executing programmes and policies, he advocated.

He said TRS had extended support to demonetisation in good faith, but it turned out to be a bad decision. TRS would extend issue-based support to the Centre but would certainly oppose unproductive bills like the CAA.
