Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath allocates budget to promote cattle farming

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath in his first state budget allocated Rs 132 crores for the promotion of cattle farming and livestock. He has also decided to pay Rs 20 per day for cow protection which was earlier Rs 1.

Finance Minister Tarun Bhanot presented the first budget of the Congress government in the legislative assembly on Wednesday.

The provision of Rs 1,204 crore has been allocated for the schemes of the Animal Husbandry Department. Under this, a provision of allocating Rs 230 crore has also been made for the animal hospitals.

The Madhya Pradesh government has been very sensitive towards safeguarding the cows.

Earlier in January, they proposed a scheme in which 1,000 of gaushalas or cow shelters were opened across the state to provide shelter to 1 lakh cows in the first phase of its programme in an effort to protect the revered bovine.
