Chennai: DMK president and opposition leader on Monday, accused Tamil Nadu government of forging COVID-19 numbers stating that the number of cases were far higher than what is being reported by the government. Questioning chief minister Edapaddi Palaniswami's handling of the COVID-19 crisis in the state Stalin wondered why there was a rise in the number of cases every day when there was no community transmission.

MK Stalin remarked that Tamil Nadu is currently facing a crisis of leadership. The DMK supremo said that there was a steep rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state. The AIADMK government was not being transparent with respect to the spread of COVID-19 in Tamil Nadu, he alleged.

MK Stalin accused the Palaniswami government of remaining opaque with regard to the coronavirus crisis in the state. He observed that community transmission of the virus in Tamil Nadu had begun and that the state government had not acted efficiently to curb the spread.

The DMK earlier accused state government of hiding facts when 236 deaths in Tamil Nadu went unrecorded. The matter came to light when a team of public health officials paid a visit to the Chennai Municipal Corporation following which it was revealed that 236 deaths were not updated in the records of the state.

The issue brewed into a controversy with the DMK accusing the State government of lack of transparency with regard to the coronavirus crisis in the state. The Tamil Nadu chief Minister, however, said that the state government had nothing to hide. The state government formed a high-level committee to probe the lapse.
