MP Political Crisis: Jyotiraditya Scindia Meets PM Modi, Amit Shah

New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia is reported to have reached the official residence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Lok Kalyan Marg in the national capital on Tuesday morning. Scindia was accompanied by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

According to media reports, Jyotiraditya Scindia may be joining the BJP on Tuesday itself. The finer points of his entry into the BJP will reportedly be hammered out in the meeting with the PM and Home Minister Amit Shah, it is being speculated.

The Madhya Pradesh crisis had been brewing for some time now. Jyotiraditya Scindia who was the star campaigner for the Congress party in the 2017 election was eyeing the chief minister's post. As it turned out, Kamal Nath pipped him at the post and was made chief minister.

Later, Scindia thought that he would be given the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee President's position, but this was also denied to him following which the feud between him and Kamal Nath only deepened, observers point out.

After a point Jyotiraditya Scindia seemed to have though that enough is enough and wooed by the BJP, seems to be mulling crossing over. His key meeting with the Prime Minister and Home Minister explains this.

At least 16 MLAs loyal to Jyotiraditya Scindia are reported to be holed up in Bengaluru, while it is likely that another 24 legislators may not attend the meeting called by the Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kamal Nath on Tuesday evening.
