National Conference President Farooq Abdullah on Saturday, met his son Omar Abdullah incarcerated in a sub-jail in Srinagar, PTI reported. The former chief minister of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir was released on Friday after 7 months in detention. The government released him after revoking the Public Safety Act (PSA) under which the former chief minister had been held at his residence in Srinagar.

Farooq Abdullah told media persons on his release that he was now a free individual and that he would return to the Lok Sabha soon. However, he remarked that his freedom was not complete till others including his son Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, both former chief ministers, were also released.

Farooq Abdullah said, "I am a free man today, but this freedom is not complete without the release of those who are still in prison." He also observed that he was thankful to all those who prayed for his freedom and leaders who spoke for their freedom.

Farooq Abdullah's political moves in the days to come are likely to be closely watched. The government has also not taken any decision on Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti.

Meanwhile, reports said the Kashmiri leader Altaf Bukhari, who was in the news for floating a new political outfit, is in the national capital and is scheduled to meet PM Modi.
