NDTV's interim CEO Suparna Singh resigns

Update: 2019-08-23 13:30 IST

New Delhi: Media company NDTV on Thursday said that its interim CEO Suparna Singh has resigned from the post with immediate effect.

The company said that pursuant to a board resolution dated December 4, 2017, the board resolved to appoint Suparna Singh as its CEO, subject to the receipt of requisite approval from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. This approval was applied for on December 12, 2017, but has not yet been received.

"Suparna Singh has informed the Company that she will step down from her responsibilities as interim CEO with immediate effect," an NDTV statement said.

The matter will be placed before company's board and committee members for consideration, it said.

The resignation comes a day after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a case against NDTV's Prannoy Roy and his wife Radhika Roy, and the company CEO and Director Vikramaditya Chandra for bringing to the listed broadcaster tainted money of unidentified public servants through a web of transactions via the foreign direct investment (FDI) route.
