No Confidence Motion: Rahul Gandhi Set To Address No-Confidence Debate

Senior Congress party leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has confirmed that Rahul Gandhi, a prominent figure within the party, is scheduled to address the no-confidence debate in the ongoing Parliament session on Wednesday. Chowdhury also revealed that Rahul Gandhi will initiate the discussion at 12 noon today.

Yesterday, there was significant anticipation that Rahul Gandhi would commence the debate in the Lok Sabha. However, the opening of the discussion was carried out by Gaurav Gogoi, who had submitted the no confidence motion against the government led by Prime Minister Modi last week.

In the meantime, Gaurav Gogoi implied that Amit Shah might be responding on behalf of the government regarding the no-confidence motion.

Gogoi mentioned that he has received information that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address the Parliament today, and my question for him is: When he visited Manipur, a committee of retired Chief Justices of High Courts was established. What progress has this committee made so far? He also established a peace committee. How many meetings did it hold? An FIR against the Assam Rifles has been filed by Manipur's Department of Home, which falls under Amit Shah. What kind of 'double-engine' government is functioning?..." reported Mint.

However, during the first day of the no-confidence motion debate against the Narendra Modi government, tensions escalated between Congress and Union Ministers over the situation in Manipur, which has been experiencing ethnic conflicts since May.

Congress accused the government of exacerbating divisions in Manipur. Gaurav Gogoi, the initiating Congress MP in the debate, explained that the opposition was compelled to bring forth the no-confidence motion to break Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silence concerning Manipur.

They had no option but to introduce the no-confidence motion. It's not about numbers, it's about justice for Manipur.They've presented this motion as the I.N.D.I.A. movement for Manipur's justice, Gogoi stated. He also questioned why Manipur Chief Minister N Biren had not been removed from his position so far.

Why has he not visited Manipur until now? Why did it take nearly 80 days for him to finally address the Manipur issue, and even then, his statement lasted only 30 seconds? Why hasn't the Chief Minister been dismissed yet? Gogoi inquired.

The debate concluded around 6 pm. Additionally, the YSRCP, Shiv Sena, JDU, BJD, BSP, BRS, and LJP were allocated a combined two hours, divided according to their respective number of MPs in the House.
