New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party has shelved whatever plans it had to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi winning a second term, on May 30, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

However, BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda is expected to issue a commemorative statement on the occasion.

Nadda, who succeeded Amit Shah as working president after the 2019 elections and became full time party chief this January, is also giving the final touches to his new team of general secretaries.

But more interesting will be his choice of members of the BJP's central parliamentary board, the party's highest decision-making body. Speculation is rife that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, on a high after delivering Modi's economic stimulus package, will be inducted into the CPB, both to present her as a face for the southern states as well as to fill the slot left by M Venkaiah Naidu following his elevation as India's vice president.
