Now, cut long cues at Toll plazas with FASTag
You can now cut the long queues at toll plazas on national highways. How? the answer is FASTag - an electronic toll collection system in India introduced by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). FASTag comes equipped with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for making toll payments directly from the prepaid or savings account linked.
It can be attached to the windscreen of a vehicle and enables to drive through toll plazas without stopping for transactions. The tag can be bought through official Tag issuers or participating Banks and if it is linked to a prepaid account. It can then be recharged as per the requirement. Few banks are offering online forms to be filled up by interested customers. Once an enquiry form is filled, and a query generated, the customer can visit the office to fill up a required form and submit necessary documents to create a FASTag account.
Documents you will need to get a FASTag:
1. Registration certificate of the vehicle.
2. Passport size photo of the vehicle owner.
3. KYC documents of the vehicle owner. (Identity proof, address proof)
Your FASTag account can be operated online using the issuer agency's web portal. The account can be recharged online using debit/credit card/ RTGS/NEFT or through Netbanking. For online recharge, convenience fees are levied against transaction processing fees.
A one-time tag joining fee of about Rs 200 will be collected by the issuer agency. Depending upon the type of vehicle, you will also have to pay a refundable deposit to the issuer agency at the time of issue of FASTag. The deposit amount will be refunded if you choose to close your FASTag account.
