Parliament Breach Conspirator Destroys Evidence As Associates Arrested

The key orchestrator behind the breach of Parliament security, Lalit Mohan Jha, allegedly eradicated crucial technical evidence, including mobile phones, the morning after four of his associates were apprehended in connection with the incident. Jha, who had livestreamed the security breach, managed to escape capture on Wednesday, retaining the ID cards and mobile phones of his detained associates, Manoranjan D, Sagar Sharma, Neelam Verma, and Amol Shinde.

Reportedly, Jha reached Kuchaman city, meeting an associate named Mahesh, who was originally supposed to participate in the breach but was prevented by his mother. Mahesh, linked to Jha and others through a Facebook group named 'Bhagat Singh Fan Page,' provided assistance in destroying the phones. Together with Mahesh and his cousin Kailash, Jha sought refuge in a dhaba, where they destroyed the evidence. Subsequently, Jha and Mahesh informed Kailash of their intention to surrender before Parliament and departed for Jaipur.

The police traced Kailash's phone number and detained him, learning about Jha and Mahesh's intended route. Raids were conducted, and security measures were heightened near Parliament. The duo was located near Dhaula Kuan and voluntarily surrendered at the Kartavya Path police station in the evening.

Upon surrender, Jha and Mahesh were handed over to the Counter-Intelligence Unit of the Special Cell for further investigation. Authorities are contemplating charges of harboring and destroying evidence against Mahesh and Kailash, seeking legal opinion on the matter. Notably, Jha's Instagram account, which features images and quotes of historical figures such as Bhagat Singh, Chandrasekhar Azad, Bagha Jatin, Subhash Chandra Bose, and Raja Ram Mohan Roy, was identified as part of the investigation. It was also revealed that Jha had facilitated his associates' stay at a friend named Vicky's house in Gurgaon when they arrived in the capital three days prior to the incident.
