Patanjali not mentioned coronil as COVID-19 drug in application: license official
Ramdev Baba's Patanjali Ayurveda did not mention coronil as Covid-19 drug in the application, said an official of Ayurved department, Uttarakhand asking the ayurvedic giant to stop all its promotions that claim to cure coronavirus.
Further, the official said that the Patanjali's coronil drug was approved as an immunity booster, for treating cough and cold but not as a drug to cure COVID-19. He also said that the Ayurved department will soon issue a notice to Patanjali asking them as to how they got permission to prepare the drug for COVID-19.
Soon after the Patanjali began its promotions of coronil as a drug to treat COVID-19, the ministry of Ayush issued a notification stating that it has sought details of the medicine such as composition, details of research study, institutional ethics committee clearance, CTRI registration and result data. Until further approval, the ministry asked Patanjali to stop the promotions.
The ministry also directed the Ayurved department of Uttarakhand to provide copies of license and details of product approval which were promoted by Patanjali as a cure for coronavirus. It may be notified that the Patanjali's coronil application contain Swasari Vati, Coronil and Anu Tel.
