PM Modi To Hold Key Review Meeting Over COVID-19 Today
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to hold a key review meeting with the Health Minister and other senior officials over the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis in the country. The Union Health Minister Dr Harshvardhan is scheduled to meet the prime minister at 11:30 PM on Saturday.
PM Modi's meeting is likely to focus on the need to amp up the awareness campaign on COVID-19 across the country. This comes in the wake of WHO's assertions on the need to fight COVID-19 beyond the efforts of the health ministry everywhere. The government of India is keen on lending an urgent thrust on a war footing to disseminate information on COVID-19.
The worldwide count of those infected with COVID-19 has crossed 100,000 and has assumed serious proportions. India has 28 active cases as of now.
The Prime Minister had on Friday described COVID-19 as a major challenge. He emphasised the need to face the crisis together and win. One has "to collaborate and create", he said pointing to the need for a cure.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in Jan Aushadhi Diwas celebrations on Saturday through video conferencing from New Delhi and is likely to touch upon the COVID-19 crisis.PM Modi will interact with seven Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana Kendras and store owners and beneficiaries at selected stores.
Jan Aushadhi outlets will also telecast PM Modi's message through Doordarshan. In select stores, panel discussions with doctors, media persons, pharmacists and beneficiaries will be organized.
Janaushadhi Kendras is considered the biggest retail pharma chain in the world with around 6,200 outlets in 700 districts
