PM Modi, Venkaiah Naidu, Rajnath Singh, Pay Tributes To Veer Savarkar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to the freedom fighter Veer Savarkar on the occasion of his birth anniversary on Thursday. The Prime Minister said that he bowed to the courage of Veer Savarkar. In a tweet, PM Modi observed that on his Jayanti, he bowed to the courageous Veer Savarkar. "We remember him for his bravery, motivating several others to join the freedom struggle and emphasis on social reform," PM Modi added.

Vice-President of India Venkaiah Naidu also paid tributes to Veer Savarkar on his birth anniversary and called him a great son of Mother India. Venkaiah Naidu added in a tweet that

"Veer Savarkar was a multi-dimensional personality—a freedom fighter, social reformer, writer and political thinker." The Vice-President of India pointed out that "during imprisonment in the Cellular Jail, Savarkar was subjected to harsh treatment and solitary confinement."

Venkaiah Naidu added that Veer Savarkar's "indomitable spirit and commitment to free his motherland from foreign oppression will be always remembered."


Defence Minister Rajnath Singh hailed the role in the freedom movement played by Veer Savarkar whose patriotism and nationalist fervour were exemplary. He added that Savarkar envisioned a united, undivided India—the dream of every Indian.
