Rajya Sabha To Discuss Delhi Riots Today

New Delhi: The Rajya Sabha is scheduled to discuss on Thursday, the violence which took place in Delhi from February 24 to late February 25.Several notices have been given by various opposition parties. Union Home Minister, Amit Shah will give his reply at the end of the discussion. Several notices have been given by various opposition parties for a debate on the Delhi violence.

The Opposition has been demanding a discussion on the subject. Rajya Sabha Chairman had, earlier last week, scheduled the debate for the post-Holi period.

The Lok Sabha, on Wednesday, had a prolonged debate on Delhi violence at the end of which Union Home Minister Amit Shah gave his response.

The Union Home Minister said that a deep-seated conspiracy was behind the entire Delhi violence. Violence was carefully planned, and multiple incidents were executed, he added. The Union Home Minister commended the Delhi police for quelling the violence in 36 hours refuting allegations of inaction and complicity by the Delhi police made by the Opposition. Amit Shah told the house that the guilty will not be spared in the matter and that a detailed probe is on using state of the art technology and facial recognition software.

Amit Shah pointed out that more than 700 FIRs had been launched lodged in incidents related to Delhi violence and that several people have been questioned and some arrests made.

The Union Home Minister expressed sorrow over the loss of 52 people and injuries to several others, as also damage to property caused by arsonists.
