Ratan Tata has been actively using his agency on social media to leverage change in India. In his latest initiative, the philanthropist has set out to provide land rights for slum dwellers in Odisha. The initiative is a collaborative effort of Tata Trusts and the Norman Foster foundation along with the Government of Odisha.

Appreciating the Odisha state government's efforts, Tata said: "We are only as strong as the communities we empower."

In his social media post, the former Tata Group Chairman wrote:

"The Government of Odisha along with the Tata Trusts and the Norman Foster foundation set out to give the slum dwellers land rights and to transform slums into livable habitat under the "Jaga mission". This involved geospatial drone mapping of the slums to designing the right neighbourhood to inviting the slum dwellers to be a part of the process. It makes me so happy that the Government of Odisha was awarded the World Habitat Award for this effort. After all, we are only as strong as the communities we empower."

Over the last couple of weeks, the automobile baron has used his social media influence to find a forever home for an abandoned dog named Myra. Ratan Tata is known for his affinity towards animals. He has helped float a start-up that manufactures reflective collars for stray dogs that help prevent them from being prey to road accidents at night.
