Update: 2019-11-21 01:35 IST

Till today, women would dread having to worry about unsafe sex, unwanted pregnancy or even side effects of birth control pills. But take heart, as all that is going to change soon. In a matter of six months, male contraception will be here. Now, if you thought this is an experiment being done in some part of the world, then wait till you hear this. The credit entirely goes to our Indian Scientists.

As per latest reports, clinical trials are already underway to check the effectiveness of groin injections that stops a sperm from reaching the penis. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) scientists have already finished three rounds of trials which have showed some positive results, we hear.

Some 300 volunteers who were subject to these trials reported no side effects, is is learnt. The earlier study on the use of male contraceptives was done in US which didn't yield expected results as the men who underwent clinical trials experienced some side effects. Now with the positive results ruling out that possibility, the scientists await the nod from the Indian medical body which is expected to come through in the next six months.

The male birth control injection doctors say will be effective for a period of 13 years. The procedure however is done under local anaesthesia. Now, we have to wait to see if the new breakthrough in medicine can get an approval from the Indian medical body.
