New Delhi : Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan on Friday said the government should put reservations in the ninth schedule of the Constitution so that the matter is out of the court's jurisdiction.

In an exclusive interview with IANS, the Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution said, "The government should amend the law and put reservation in the ninth schedule of the Constitution. We don't want the matter to reach the court." He said this was decided unanimously after he recently met around 100 MPs.

Talking about the controversial issue of reservation in promotions in Uttarakhand, Paswan said it was not only the fault of the Congress government but also the two governments of Uttarakhand. "The matter dates back to 2010, but it was never taken up. It was not even brought to the notice of the NDA government. Any government which takes up the reservation in the court is against it," the eight time MP said.

The Union Minister also said that the court proceedings should be done in English as well as local languages also. He also reiterated on the formation of the Indian Judicial Service as he said that with the establishment of the Judicial Service Commission the laws that will be passed by the Parliament will not get stuck in the court.

Talking about the way Prime Minister Narendra Modi runs the cabinet and the government, Paswan said he has worked with six Prime Ministers but none gave freedom to their subordinates the way Modi does.
