Riot Accused Tahir Hussain To Surrender Before Court

New Delhi: Riot accused, former AamAadmi Party (AAP) Councillor Tahir Hussain has on Thursday afternoon, filed an application to surrender before the Rouse Avenue Court. Hussain has been accused in the brutal murder of intelligence bureau official, Ankit Sharma. He has also been charged with trying to destroy evidence and for being involved in violence which scarred North East Delhi on February 24 and 25.

Ankit Sharma's father, himself a Delhi police staffer, Ravinder Kumar, filed a police complaint accusing Tahir Hussain of being involved in the kidnap and murder of his son. The Delhi police subsequently filed an FIR against the former AAP Corporator for the murder of the IB official, destruction of evidence, and his involvement in rioting and arson.

Tahir Hussain is a resident of Khajuri Khas area in North East Delhi which witnessed several incidents of violence. The AAP Councillor has been on the run for more than 10 days and in interviews given to media outlets, had claimed innocence. He said that he was being framed by his political opponents, notably from BJP.

Tahir Hussain said that a free and fair probe into the case in which he stands as accused would prove his innocence. he added that he was ready for a narco-analysis test.

Delhi police are likely to get custody of the former AAP corporator and will interrogate him if the Court decides to hand him over to their custody.
