Salaries hiked for contract doctors

Bengaluru: Karnataka Health Department permitted district health departments to recruit doctors with MBBS on contract basis to fill the scarcity of doctors in overcoming the Covid-19 pandemic situation.

The state government also hiked the salary of the contract doctors from Rs 45,000 to Rs 60,000 per month.

The hike of salaries came after 507 MBBS doctors working with Karnataka state health department on contract basis resigned on Wednesday demanding regularization of service and hike in salaries.

The MBBS doctors also met Karnataka state chief minister Yediyurappa on this regard.
