Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut writes to Venkaiah Naidu about his seat change

NEW DELHI: Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut wrote a letter to Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday expressing his disappointment over the change of his seat. The letter that was making the rounds online read "Astonished to know that my seating position in RS chamber is changed from 3rd to 5th row. The decision has been taken by someone deliberately to hurt Shiv Sena's sentiments and suppress our voice."

The letter further went on to elaborate about how the move affects the dignity of the Upper House. "I also fail to understand reason for this unwarranted step since there is no formal announcement about the removal from NDA. This decision has affected dignity of the House.I request you to allot us 1/2/3 row seat and uphold House decorum," the leader said in the letter.

The Shiv Sena broke partnership with the BJP after the two parties who contested in the elections as allies failed to reach an agreement over power sharing in Maharashtra. Shiv Sena's lone minister in the Union Cabinet stepped down amid the tensions. The party then approached the Congress and the NCP to form an alternative government in the state of Maharashtra. However, there has been no formal announcement of exit from either side.

While Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut was confident that a government led by his party will be in place by next month in Maharashtra, Sonia Gandhi, the interim president of the Congress didn't comment on the issue. Raut said the picture will become clear in the next two days, and that the new CM of Maharashtra will be from . Congress president Sonia Gandhi refused to comment on the progress being made in the formation of a new government in Maharashtra. When reporters asked her about the impending issue in the state, all she had to say to the media was "no comments."
