Shivamogga farmers stage protest against anti-farmer policies
Shivamogga: District BJP Raitha Morcha members on Monday held a protest against the state government’s alleged anti-farmer policies. The activists led by former Deputy Chief Minister KS Eshwarappa and former Home Minister Araga Jnanendra, gathered in front of the Shivamogga Deputy Commissioners ‘s office and raised slogans against the government. Eshwarappa said that the Congress government did not complete even three months in power, but it has already started to betray the farmers. He said that the government has not given the Rs 4,000 promised by the previous BJP government, and it has also stopped the education fund for farmers’ children. He also alleged that the government has cancelled the cowshed scheme that was started by the BJP government. Jnanendra said that the government has used the money to guarantee schemes which was reserved for agriculture purposes, He said that the government should immediately change its policy and start giving the promised benefits to the farmers. The protesters submitted a memorandum to the DC , demanding that the government implement the previous BJP government’s schemes for the farmers.
