Six friends win Rs 12 crore jackpot in Thiruvonam bumper lottery
Thiruvananthapuram: A six friends who work as a salesman has become millionaires overnight by winning a bumper prize in the lottery. Ronni, Vivek, Rajiv, Subin Thomas, Rimjin and Ratheesh bought a lottery ticket issued by Kerala government at a jewellery shop in Kollam district.
In the latest lottery results, the first prize is Rs 12 crore, and these friends won the ticket. After the deduction of tax and others, they will get Rs 7.56 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, they said that we have collected some money and bought a lottery ticket in the past. In the same way, this time also we have purchased the ticket, Vivek said.
At first, it was hard to believe that they have won such a huge amount in the lottery. Now it is very happy. We are thinking about what to do with this money, Subin Thomas said.
He said they bought the lottery for Rs 300 by collecting Rs 50 each, and the ticket got the bumper draw, while the second and third prizes fetched Rs 50 lakh and Rs 10 lakh, respectively.
The lottery is known as Thiruvonam bumper, which is very popular in Kerala. By the time of lottery draw on Thursday, nearly 43 lakh tickets have been sold out of 46 lakh tickets.
The lottery winners were announced at Gorky Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday afternoon. The bumper lottery hits the ticket no TM-160869 which was bought by these six friends. On the occasion of Onam, Dussehra, and Christmas festivals, the lotteries are conducted in Kerala.
