Sonia Gandhi Calls For Amit Shah's Resignation, Blames BJP
New Delhi: Interim President of Congress party Sonia Gandhi blamed the BJP for violent incidents which have erupted in Delhi since Sunday afternoon. The Interim President of the Congress demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister, Amit Shah who should take responsibility for the deaths of 20 innocent people in these violent happenings, she observed. Sonia Gandhi also pointed out that the Centre had not come out with a message on these violent incidents so far.
Sonia Gandhi questioned Amit Shah for his absence over the last four 4 days.
Sonia Gandhi referred to the hate speeches of BJP leaders during the run-up to the elections in Delhi. She also alluded to the speech of BJP leader, Kapil Mishra made on Sunday afternoon.
Sonia Gandhi conveyed the sympathy of her party to all those who lost their dear ones in the violence. The Congress clarified that the President of India had given an appointment for tomorrow and they will be meeting him and submitting a memorandum on the situation.
Sonia Gandhi recalled that during Prime Minister Vajpayee's time, when she was Leader of the Opposition, she would be consulted by the Centre on all important matters. She regretted that no such meeting had taken place after the Modi government came to power. "It is a sad fact, but it is the truth," she said.
Sonia Gandhi said that the problem had to be quelled urgently and said that the Congress had passed a resolution on the issue in a meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC).
