Supreme Court orders centre to decide on the Coronavirus testing charges

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday took cognizance of the large difference in testing fees for coronavirus in various states. Hearing the matter, the Supreme Court asked the Center to take a decision on the issue. The court said that all states should constitute a panel of experts to inspect hospitals to ensure proper care of patients.

A division bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan, SK Kaul and MR Shah said during the hearing that there should be uniformity in COVID-19 testing fees in all states. The court said it may also consider passing an order to install CCTV in hospitals to ensure patient care monitoring.

Significantly, in order to deal with the Corona epidemic, there is a demand from the government to bring uniformity in the testing of different rates in the country. Earlier, the Supreme Court had directed the central government to treat the patients of Corona properly, to provide relief to the distressed people from the huge amount being collected for the treatment of Corona.
