Telugu native who tweaked Article 370
New Delhi: 'Telugu Man' G Narayana Raju has played a key role in the preparation of the legislation for revoking of Article 370 and 35A and also the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act which was approved in the Rajya Sabha on Monday.
The Act removed the statehood status to the Jammu and Kashmir state and made it a Union Territory with legislation. Under the Act, Ladakh, which was part of Jammu state had also been declared as Union territory (UT).
Raju, as a senior Indian Legal Service officer in the Union ministry of Law, was appointed as the Legislative Secretary, the top draftsman of the government in 2015. Before that, he served in the Law department in various capacities.
Official sources said that Raju played a vital role in drafting the Acts regarding Jammu and Kashmir without giving any legal hurdles to the Union government.
When contacted his office, the staff declined to give additional information about Raju's profile as the Centre imposed restrictions in disclosing any information to the media or outside people during the Parliament session.
