Telugu student arrested for blackmailing woman professor in Chennai

Chennai: The police have arrested a Telugu student for blackmailing woman professor in Chennai on Monday. The accused Vivesh (22) is studying engineering at a private university near Mahabalipuram in Kancheepuram district. He resides at a rented house in Ambattur and does a part-time job in a company.

A 25-year-old young woman from AP also works as a professor in the same varsity where Vivesh study. As they both belong from the same state, the professor was friendly with him.

Recently, Vivesh called the professor for a party as his studies are getting completed, for which the woman agreed. At 7 pm, he went to the women's hostel at Sholinganallur, where the woman professor stays.

He took her on his bike to the east coast road. He stopped the bike at an isolated place in Poonjeri. The frightened professor asked why he stopped here, for which Vivesh replayed that there is resort inside where he arranged the dinner.

He then took the professor into the bushes, threatened her with sword and said to remove the clothes. He filmed her nude video, threatened her not to reveal the matter to anyone and dropped her back at the hostel.

Later, Vivesh started blackmailing her to spend time with him or else he'll leak the video on social media. In this context, professor lodged a complaint with Semmanjeri police station.

On receiving the complaint, the police arrested Vivesh and deleted the video of the woman professor. He was present in the court and sent to remand on Monday.
