Unexploded bombs of World war-II period discovered in Manipur
Manipur: A large number of unexploded bombs suspected to be of World War-II period have been recovered from Moreh area in Manipur.
According to reports, the bombs were discovered while an excavator was leveling a plot of land for construction of a house at Lhangnom Veng area in Moreh town on Thursday evening. On discovering the unexploded bombs, the house owner immediately informed Moreh police and a police team reached the area and recovered the bombs which are suspected to be of World War-II.
27 pieces of unexploded bombs, 43 empty cases of bombs and 15 empty boxes were discovered during the digging of earth in the area.
Tengnoupal district Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sangboi Gangte said, "The discovered items are believed to be from the World War-II period."
On July 15, six unexploded bombs suspected to be of the World War-II period were also recovered from Imphal's Hatta area near the Indian Army War Cemetery.
