Unlock 1 From Today: Know More About What Will Open

After a nationwide lockdown of over two months following the coronavirus pandemic in the country, India for the first time stepped into Phase One of the three-stage unlock plan announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs, (MHA) Government of India. MHA unveiled the three stages of its unlock plan on Sunday when the fourth phase of the countrywide lockdown announced on March 24, ended.

Phase I

• Places of worship and other religious places will be open to the public from June 8.

• Hotels, restaurants, pubs, shopping malls and other facilities including hospitality services will be permitted to function from June 8.

Phase II

• Educational institutions including schools, colleges, training and coaching institutions, among others will start functioning in consultation with states and union territories. Stakeholders including parents will have a say in the decision which will be taken in July.

Phase III

Resumption of international flights, gymnasiums, swimming pools, metro services, cinema halls and entertainment parks based on an evaluation of the situation.

Social, political, sports, entertainment, cultural, religious, academic functions and conventions would be given a nod after reviewing the situation.

Inter-state, as well as intra-state movement of people and goods, will be allowed from June 1 without permission or a pass. However, the power of regulating movement will vest with the states which will put due procedures in place.

Night curfew will continue from June 1. The timings, however, have now been relaxed to 9 pm to 5 am instead of 7 pm to 7 am as announced earlier.

Domestic flights, special trains and will continue as per Standard Operating Protocols (SOPs) issued by the government.

Lockdown will continue to be in force till June 30 in containment zones.
